The beautiful basin you just paddled, the Sooke Basin, lies within the traditional territory of the T'Sou-ke and SC'IȺNEW (Beecher Bay) Nations - Coast Salish peoples whose families have lived along these shores and waters since time immemorial. The name T'Sou-ke comes from the word for the stickleback fish of this basin; SC'IȺNEW means “the place of the big fish.” We are grateful to be here.
